This is a personal blog that tells my story of how I quit smoking, and for good this time, after being a half a pack smoker for over a decade. Having worked in Tobacco Cessation, I use my knowledge as a Health Education Specialist, coupled with my own insights, tips and strategies, to walk the reader through 10 easy steps to become tobacco-free. This includes information that I would teach from the American Lung Association's Freedom From Smoking Program as a Certified Freedom From Smoking Facilitator to employees and at-risk populations for the Public Health Department. I have had a 75% success rate in getting others to quit and remain smoke-free for good on the first try. The 10 Steps to becoming smoke-free include: getting you ready to quit, defining reasons to stop smoking as well as your triggers, determining a plan when triggered, learning to reward yourself, having a support system, determining whether medications or homeopathy is right for you, my recommendations for homeopathic quit aids, and how to prepare for your quit day.
