In the first half of 2018, sales of CDs in the United States declined by 41, while total music reven
Total revenues from recorded music in the US grew 10% to $4.6 billion.
Revenues from streaming music grew 28% year-overyear to $3.4 billion for the first half of 2018. This broad category includes revenues from subscription services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, TIDA, Pandora, SiriusXM, YouTube, Vevo, and more.
Revenues from digital downloads fell 27% in the first half of 2018 to $562 million, the lowest level in more than a decade.
Revenues from CDs fell by 41% in the first half of the year, more than offsetting a 13% increase in revenues from
sales of vinyl albums.
