Stemming from author Tara Cottrell and Dan Zigmond’s book ‘Buddha’s diet- the ancient art of losing weight without losing your mind’ the buddha diet advocates a balanced, non-extreme take on dieting.
The Buddha diet might seem no less than a quip for someone who relates to the image of the laughing Buddha statue placed in most Asian restaurants, offices, and homes.
The actual Buddhist monks were much leaner and their meal included just one course a day and that had no effect on their nutrition levels or stamina. Stemming from author Tara Cottrell and Dan Zigmond’s book ‘Buddha’s diet- the ancient art of losing weight without losing your mind’ the diet today advocates a toned down verson of their diet.
How the diet works:
Eating clock
The diet emphasizes on understanding when you start and stop eating on a given day. For instance, your cup of coffee in the morning begins you clock though it may not tantamount eating in its true sense.
Gradual approach
Changing your diet overnight is not advisable and altering present habits mostly bad ones need time. The diet recommends that you first assess your eating clock and then begin incorporating the Buddha diet plan.
Thereafter, the first step would be to confine your meals over a period of 12 hours. For instance, if you start your eating clock at 7 or 8 am you must have your last meal on or before 7 or 8 pm. Once you have achieved the 12hour eating cycle you can steadily shift to an 11, 10 and finally a 9hour cycle.
Requirements: The Buddha diet does not emphasis on any specific nutrient count. You may eat whatever you feel is good for you. Translation- no junk, no intoxication or recreational drugs. The only tool you require is a weighing scale for gauging your weight loss progress.
The diet does not subscribe any kind of exercise or workout patterns. The weight loss solely depends on the type of calorie intake and refrainment therefrom for the better part of the day.
Though the diet could be a valuable consideration for people looking for losing weight, the same may not meet the rationales for athletes and other fitness enthusiasts.
